Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a bid?
Click on Silent Auction Items, scroll through the list and tap on the item you want to bid on. At the bottom of the page beneath the photo and description it will show you the current winning bid and the next minimum bid you need to make. Enter your bid amount into the field at the bottom of the page and click Place Bid (if you are not registered you will need to register your details). Credit card information is required before placing your first bid. The auction is being operated in accordance with the best practice principles at https://ciof.org.uk/events-and-training/resources/auctions.
How do I register?
You can register when you first place a bid or make donation, or you can click on Login/Register. You will be asked to enter your details so we can contact you if you win an auction item.
Can I edit my profile?
Yes, you can change any of your contact details at any point. Click on My Account, edit your profile and click Save.
How do I know if I have been outbid?
You can click on My Account and then My Bids to see all of the items you are currently winning or have been outbid on. You will also be sent a text and email notification if you have been outbid. To maximise the returns for the charity, where multiple items are available, the top bidder(s) will be successful.
What do I do if I want to retract a bid?
Please contact [email protected] before the auction ends to discuss. If an under bidder is willing to reinstate his/her previously winning bid prior to the auction ending, then your request may be approved, at the organisers’ discretion. At the conclusion of the auction, bids are binding, not retractable and refunds are not available in any circumstance.
When does the auction close?
There is a countdown clock on the item page showing how long is left until the item closes.
How do I know if I won an item?
When the system closes, your credit card will automatically be charged only if you have won an item and/or made a donation. You will then be sent a text and email notification with a confirmation of your payment.
Are all the prizes donated?
This fundraising auction contains a combination of donated lots and supplied lots. Non donated lots are supplied to this fundraiser at £25 - £500 under the starting bid price to ensure that every single bid is guaranteed to raise much needed funds for the beneficiary charities. That value, plus 100% of the winning bid above the supply price goes to the beneficiaries. Wholly donated lots will be specified.
Are flights included?
The lots inclusion are exhaustive and exclude flights, transfers and all other expenses unless expressly stated in the description.
What if Covid / travel restrictions make a prize unredeemable?
The experiences herein all come with extended validity of 12 or 18 months. These factors should allow all winners to enjoy their experiences with a year or more of unrestricted opportunity to redeem. Should Covid restrictions continue and any experience cannot be taken due to associated closure of the venue or frustration by third party such as Government mandate or an international travel ban etc, the winner will have access to all appropriate remedies including initially, further extension, transfer to the next year's equivalent event, transfer to alternative experiences, and if none of these is possible a refund of the item supply price.
